Employment
Seasonal full-time, partial-salaried position. The position will begin in early May 2023 and will end the second week of September.
Location: Salmon, Idaho.
Summary: The Salmon River Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations and safe conduct of all Salmon River Lodge Main Salmon river trips during the summer season. These tasks include coordinating guides and conducting trip reviews, managing logistical concerns with the office, handling equipment maintenance/concerns, and oversight of guide duties. The person in this position will have support from our Director of Operations to ensure that our trips run smoothly and that any issues are resolved. The Salmon River Operations Manager will participate in the June training trip, but will primarily handle the administrative duties necessary for each trip’s success from our base in Salmon, Idaho.
Occasionally, the River Operations Manager will travel to the Salmon River Lodge across from Corn Creek to lead day trips for lodge guests. We hope that this will be a good opportunity for the River Operations Manager to get some fun time on the water and add variation to their other tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise guides and other staff in the execution of their duties directly related to the trip rotation both on and off the river.
Ensure overall quality of operations, guest experience and guide performance in all aspects of each trip.
Foster a positive, supportive and effective work environment amongst crew and staff.
Act as the Salmon River Lodge liaison with suppliers of goods and services to this operation.
Document and update a thorough inventory of gear and notify the Operations Director of any needs.
Assist in equipment transfers, shipping or receiving of retail items, etc, from other outposts, the lodge, or the Salmon base.
Maintain and foster a good relationship with the US Forest Service, Salmon River Lodge staff and other people we will work closely with.
Be responsible for the care and maintenance of all equipment used.
Pre-pack food and stage any gear that would be helpful for the guides who are returning for re-supply before heading back out again.
Qualifications:
Legally allowed to work in the United States
Ability to work effectively and efficiently without close supervision
Excellent river, rescue, and first-aid skills
Minimum of two years experience as a commercial rafting guide
Excellent leadership ability
Ability to delegate tasks and manage people effectively
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail a must
Excellent verbal communication skills
Creative problem-solving skills
Strong team player with excellent ability to get along with others
Openness to feedback and ability to accept constructive criticism
Computer literacy with email, word processing, and excel
Physically capable of lifting up to 70 lbs.
Excellent driving record
Experience with heavy crew-cab pickup truck and trailer
Reports to: This position reports directly to the Salmon River Lodge Director of River Operations.
Basic Schedule: The Salmon River Manager will primarily reside at our base in Salmon, Idaho. They are also expected to lead intermittent day trips from the Salmon River Lodge. These day trips will occur sometimes twice a month, and in the busy season, once or twice per week. In June, the Manager will be involved in base set up and guide training.
Compensation: Partially salaried, with additional daily wages accrued for the time leading trips (variable, dependent on experience). Additional tasks are compensated hourly.
