Packing logistics explained

Congratulations—you’ve booked your trip and now it’s time to pack! This is truly where your adventure begins and we think it can be a fun process. This information is here to help you decide what to bring and what not to bring, what to pack your things in, and how it will all work once we're on the river.

  • Toothbrush & toothpaste

    There are no laundry services but the river is a great way to rinse & refresh!

    If you're unsure about an item, feel free to bring it. We will securely store any items you don't wish to bring downriver and return them to you at the end.

  • During your trip, you will have the opportunity to stop at a historic homestead called Buckskin Bill’s. There, you’ll have the option to purchase goodies like root beer floats, ice cream, t-shirts, and more. If you think you may want some snacks or souvenirs, please being cash or card for this occasion! Your guides will let you know when to have it handy.

    At the end of the trip, your guide team does accept and appreciate gratuities; however it is never required. If you are able, and desire to offer a gratuity, 15% to 20% of your trip cost is standard. All gratuities are split between the guide crew. Cash is preferred for this, but we are also able to take Venmo.

Luggage Logistics for Your Trip

At Home

We like to recommend packing your things into a soft duffle approximately 12” x 13” x 24” in size. This will allow you to toss your whole duffle bag directly to our provided dry bags for easier access to items during your trip.

Note: there is a maximum 30lb weight limit for luggage on the Gem Air flights.

At the Lodge

When you arrive at the lodge, your guides will provide you with a 60L waterproof bag to transfer your items to. Anything you don’t want to bring on the river will be stored securely until we reach the take-out.

This bag will be secured to our gear boat each day and returned to you as soon as we reach camp.

On the River

For items you'd like to keep safe and dry but access during the day (cameras, phones, notebooks) we provide several smaller group dry bags that will come along with you on the raft and will be accessible to you at all times during the day. Assume that anything you bring may get wet or sandy, and we recommend leaving any valuables behind.

At the Take-Out

Upon reaching the boat ramp at the conclusion of your trip, your guides will go retrieve your luggage that has been delivered by our trusted friends at All Rivers Shuttles. While lunch is being prepared, you will have the opportunity to change clothes and transfer all of your things out of the provided dry bag to your original luggage.

Planing to Fish?

Trout fishing is great on the Main Salmon and its beautiful side creeks! If you plan to fish during your trip, you will need to purchase a fishing license. You can do this online with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game at idfg.idaho.gov

Please provide your own gear including tackle (single, barbless hooks only), and fishing poles.
