Your Travel Guide

We couldn’t be happier to be your choice outfitter for your Main Salmon rafting adventure! River trip logistics may seem complicated because we will start and end at a different location, but we’re here to make planning smooth and easy. If you have questions or need help planning your travel, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ve been there!


  • IF YOU ARE FLYING:
    Guests who choose to fly will meet us in Salmon, Idaho at the Lemhi County Airport on the first day of the trip.

    It’s most common to fly into the Boise International Airport and choose to add an air taxi service to your reservation at the time of booking your trip. This connects from the Boise International Airport to the Lemhi County Airport in Salmon.

    Please book your flight to arrive in Boise no later than 1pm MST. The connecting flight to Salmon, Idaho departs in the same terminal at 2pm MST.

    IF YOU ARE DRIVING:
    Guests who choose to drive will meet us at Corn Creek Campground by 5pm MST.

    Corn Creek Campground is where we will all meet to await our jet boat ride to take us across the river to the Salmon River Lodge.

    You will need to call to schedule a shuttle service to drive your vehicle from Corn Creek Campground at 10am on the day your trip launches, to the river take-out at Carey Creek by 11am on the last day of our trip.

    UPON ARRIVAL AT CORN CREEK:

    If you drove, please park your car along the road at Corn Creek Campground and meet us with your luggage on the boat ramp.

    Your vehicle should be left ready for the shuttle company to pick it up the following day.

    If you flew, your shuttle driver will guide you to the boat ramp in time to be picked up by the jet boat.

  • We will arrive at Carey Creek boat ramp on day 6 of your trip around 12pm MST.

    If you drove your own vehicle at the beginning of your trip, this is where you will reunite with your vehicle to drive home!

    If you took a Gem Air flight at the beginning of your trip, from here you will hop on your complimentary shuttle to McCall for your travels home. You can take either take a flight to Boise with Gem Air or arrange an additional ground shuttle to get you to the Boise airport.

    Please book your departure flight from Boise no sooner than 7pm on the last day of the trip. Many folks opt to stay in a hotel that night and fly out the following day.

  • We know life happens, and we strongly advise that you purchase a travel insurance policy in the event that you must cancel your trip for any reason.

    Salmon River Lodge is not able to compensate or refund any transportation costs in the event of a cancellation.

Deciding Whether to Drive or Fly

Driving and Vehicle Shuttle

If you choose to drive your own vehicle to the starting location of your trip, you will need to arrange a vehicle shuttle service to drive your vehicle from Corn Creek Campground to the Carey Creek Boat Ramp.

The shuttle service will allow you to avoid the 10-hour drive back to the beginning of our trip start location.

Please schedule your car pick-up at Corn Creek for 10am on the second day of your trip. Your car drop-off should be scheduled at Carey Creek by 11am on the last day of your trip.

We recommend our friends at All Rivers Shuttle for this service which costs $450 per vehicle (pricing variable depending on gas and road conditions):

Air Travel

Save many hours of driving by adding an Air Taxi service from Boise or McCall to the city of Salmon, Idaho to your reservation when you book with us. This flight departs at 2pm MST, is about 1.5 hours long and costs $265 per person.

Flying will save you 15+ hours of driving, offering you more time to enjoy your trip and relax!

Once you have hopped on the Air Taxi from Boise to Salmon, will pick you up upon arrival at the Lemhi County Airport in Salmon and transport you the rest of the way to the lodge.

Please schedule your arrival at the Boise International Airport on the first day of your trip no later than 1pm MST. Your departure from Boise on the last day should be no earlier than 7pm MST.

Flying into Boise?

If you are flying into the Boise International Airport, you may want to consider adding a Gem Air flight taxi to your trip as an option when you book with us. This will save you the hassle of 5+ hours of driving and a car rental—plus, we handle the Gem Air booking and pick you up in Salmon, Idaho when you arrive.

If you choose this option, you must arrive at the Boise Airport 2 hours prior to your Gem Air flight departure.
